Contest

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our 2nd Annual Writing Contest. Winners will be announced shortly and contacted via email.

Prizes:
First place is $125.00, second: $50.00, third: $15.00.

Formatting Guidelines:
– double-spaced, 12-pt. Times New Roman font
– under 2,000 words

Entry Fee:  
The entry fee is $10.00 (US dollars) per submission. The fee must be paid by mail. Please send a money order, cashier’s check or personal check made out to Blue Bus Publishing to:

Personal checks must be cleared before entries are considered valid. Blue Bus Publishing is not responsible for lost entries or payments.  Submissions without an entry fee will be disqualified.

Judging:
The editors of Journal from the Heartland are judging this contest. Our main criterion for selection is quality. though we always look for human interest and originality.

Submitting Entries

Entries must be submitted as a .doc or .docx attachment with only the title and page numbers included on the contest entry itself. Include name, phone number, and email address in the body of your email, also please provide a 2-3 sentence bio describing yourself. Type “Writing Contest Entry” in the subject line.

We prefer email submissions but print versions will be accepted. Mail your entry to:
